Swarovski Crystals in Sew On Settings

Our collection of Swarovski crystals hand set in 4-hole settings started it all. One of the most frequently asked questions is “what type of machine do you use to set the crystals?” The answer is simple and has remained unchanged for the past ten years. Every crystal in a sew on setting has been lovingly set by hand in Rhode Island. Hand setting ensures a perfectly set crystal every time, the prongs won’t pop up and the crystals won’t jiggle around. The “Sew-On Crystal Shop” truly is the heart of our business.

Spoken best from a customer who uses the crystals to accessorize browbands for her horse Sierra “You are doing a great job setting those crystals - Sierra's forelock has not gotten snagged on a prong of any of them yet. That is a big achievement, normally hair snags like crazy on prongs like that. Having them set so well is what makes them so much more durable than the cheap crystal browbands that last only for a few wearings before crystals fall out. Kudos to you!”

A girl and a boy wearing winter hats in a snowy area

Both born and raised on Aquidneck Island in RI, our family-run business is a huge part of who we are. Barton (Amanda’s middle name!) grew from a love of vintage, a passion for manufacturing in the United States, a little good luck and a lot of hard work. After buying and selling closeout lots from jewelry manufacturers across the country, we decided to start setting some of the vintage rhinestones in sew on settings and retailing them. We loved working with customers directly so much that we started a web site, expanded the lines of Swarovski crystal we carried, and Barton DIY was born (formerly Sew-On Crystals). Working with customers is still our favorite part of the business and we encourage you to reach out with questions big or small!
